Alaska WildGear is a clothing company that is owned by Doug and Rona Hodges of Soldotna, Alaska. They have a retail store which is located at 44624 Sterling Hwy, Suite A in Soldotna. The store is located on the main road going through Soldotna, on the right hand side as you are heading towards Homer, and is highly visible with a bright red exterior on the top quarter of the building. The retail store is well appointed and designed. Items are nicely displayed and the shopping experience is a good one.
The business was started in 2006 and they produce clothing for men, women and children that has an Alaskan flare. The Hodges love Alaska and enjoy camping, fishing, hiking, and all that Alaska offers. Their clothing line is a way to share their love of the state with locals and the many visitors that come each year. Alaska is a unique and beautiful place, hence the Alaska WildGear motto: “This Ain’t the Lower Forty Eight.”
In addition to the Soldotna location, the Alaska Shop in Seward retails their clothing. Men’s styles include t-shirts, parkas, hooded softshell jackets, 1/4-zip shirts, headwear, masks and buffs. Women’s styles include waterproof parkas, hooded softshell jackets, short-sleeve shirts, headwear, masks and buffs. Many items feature Alaska-flavored imagery including moose antlers and tribal salmon. They also sell decals with the same imagery. Check their website for new products and designs.
