Business Advice: How to Survive & Thrive for Small Business

Produced by Linda Leary

Linda Leary, of Linda Leary Consulting, has business advice for small businesses to help you to not only weather the storm of current business conditions, but to thrive despite current conditions. COVID-19 has disrupted supply chains, production, our ability to work in our normal environments and even our ability to socialize. The impacts of these challenges are going to be with us for a while. Small businesses, without huge cash reserves, are especially feeling the heat.

In the seminar, Linda provides business advice in five key areas: 1) create a plan; 2) funding sources, 3) managing mood (your own, and your employees’), 4) remember your why, and 5) this is not forever.

Linda recommends creating a 90-day plan including managing expenses, maintaining and growing revenue, marketing and customer service, learning new skills, collaborating, restructuring, and giving back to your community.

There are a number of funding sources you can apply for right now and some of these are identified in the presentation, both on the federal level and the state and local level.

No doubt, these are stressful times. Your mood, and that of your employees, is vitally important. Linda provides business advice to help you navigate the emotional rollercoaster resulting from the COVID-19 environment.

While the current environment is disruptive and distracting, Linda recommends that you stay focused on why you are in business. Stay focused on you vision and look for opportunities as you weather the storm.

Last but not least, perhaps the most important piece of business advice we should all take to heart is to remember that this is not forever. Sure, it will take some time for things to get back to some sense of normal, but as the Greek philosopher Heraclitus said long ago, “Nothing is permanent except change.” This too shall pass in time. We’ll get through it!
