North Pacific Saltwater

North Pacific Saltwater

Captain Jon Martin invites you aboard the F/V Pole Position to fish the bountiful saltwater of Sitka Sound and the Gulf of Alaska. Sitka, Alaska is a beautiful seaside town on Baranof Island, one of the main ABC Islands in Southeast.

A 32-foot walk around Almar Sounder offers ample room to spread out for our favorite technique of mooching for salmon, but also provides a sizable aft for trolling or soaking bait on anchor. Guests appreciate a heated, enclosed cabin and head. The boat has just been re-powered with twin Yamaha 250-hp four strokes and is stocked with state-of-the-art electronics and safety gear.

North Pacific Saltwater provides fishing charters through the season for halibut, king salmon, lingcod, rockfish, sable fish, coho and more. The area brings some of the most productive salmon and bottom fishing anywhere in Alaska or even on the West Coast. Bordering the saltwater is the Tongass National Forest with Mount Edgecumbe is visible on a clear day. Mooching is the fishing style of choice for this charter operation for kings and silvers because this style of hands on fishing is so much fun.

Raised in Sitka, Alaska, Captain Jon grew up camping, fishing and hunting with his family. He and his wife Amanda live in Sitka year round with their two daughters and they enjoy sharing similar experiences with their children. Jon is a great natured guy with a load of area knowledge which makes him extra fun to fish with. Jon is also a hunting guide and a professor of biology at the University of Alaska. He equally loves all of his jobs and hardly considers any of it work. He is a great ambassador to share Alaska with your family and friends.
