Trail Ridge Air

Trail Ridge Air is one of the most respected flight service companies in the state. The stories abound of the Jensens’ willingness to go above and beyond. Everyone there is like they are part of the family and the crew has been there a long time. The Jensens are proud that their boys are following in the family footsteps. Wrangel is a pilot at Trail Ridge Air and Nick is getting his commercial pilot’s license. The goal is for Wrangel to take over Trail Ridge one day.

Trail Ridge Air’s core group of pilots is made up of Wrangel, Casey Hill and Adam Redman. They’ve all learned extensively from Jim who has been highly regarded in the Alaskan bush aviation community for a long time. Other pilots come to Jim for advice. It’s not uncommon to see three or four people in the office at once, sharing a cup of coffee and talking flying with Jim. He’s always happy to share his knowledge and that has made Trail Ridge very highly respected. Jim takes pride and enjoyment in passing his knowledge on to the young pilots who are quickly following in his footsteps.

In 1985 Mark Lang hired Jimmy to fly guests of their Iliamna-area fishing lodge from Anchorage to Port Alsworth in addition to taking them to remote fisheries and sightseeing the region. Jimmy headed out of state that winter to get his commercial and instrument rating in order to fly passengers for the lodge. He flew for two summers at Alaska Wilderness Lodge and two more for Mission Lodge before he was recruited by Tom McGuire, who originally owned Trail Ridge Air.

Now more than three decades later in their business, the owners and team at Trail Ridge Air appreciate their customer more than anything. They love taking people out for their first time on a wilderness experience. It’s fun to show them Alaska.

In addition to flying for several full-service fishing lodges, Trail Ridge Air also provides transportation for locals living or recreating remotely, cargo delivery, float fishing and hunting drop-offs. They also provide sightseeing trips, glacier tours, Denali flightseeing and bear-viewing excursions for guests. Whether it is fishing or sightseeing Alaska in all of its glory, you’ll be glad you met the Jensens and their crew. They’d love to share what we have out here.
